Russia Advances Bill to Track Crypto Transfers Over 60,000 Rubles in Real Time

Russia moves to track crypto transfers above 60,000 rubles Russia’s State Duma Financial Markets Committee approved for second reading a bill that would give Rosfinmonitoring real-time data on crypto transactions above 60,000 rubles, down from 100,000, including wallet address, name, physical address, date of birth and TIN of both sides. The package, expected to take effect on Sept. 1, would also let the Central Bank ban crypto deals it deems a threat to investors or financial stability.

SecondFi hack losses may top 129M ADA, far above initial estimate SecondFi, the EMURGO-backed Cardano web wallet, initially said a flaw in its wallet-generation software led to the theft of about 16 million ADA, but SlowMist founder Yu Xian now says wallets tied to the attacker handled more than 129 million ADA plus other tokens, suggesting losses above $20 million. Blink Labs told users to treat SecondFi-created wallets as compromised and move assets to new wallets, while SecondFi asked users not to restore seed phrases elsewhere pending its review.

New York Man Gets 15 Months for Telegram Crypto Influencer Impersonation Scam

Queens man gets 15 months for Telegram crypto impersonation scam Noman Saleem, 39, of Queens and Levittown, was sentenced to 15 months in federal prison and three years of supervised release for posing as crypto influencers on Telegram and steering victims into a fake staking scheme. Prosecutors said he copied influencers’ handles, ran a paid VIP channel charging about $500-$600 in crypto, and took in at least $1.4 million before cutting off victims.
