Trading in US spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds slowed sharply over the latest five-session stretch, marking the weakest full week for the category since October 2024. The group handled about $8.05 billion through Friday, according to SoSoValue data, a 14% decline from the previous week's $9.37 billion.
Net flows into Bitcoin funds remained positive at roughly $33.8 million, but that total masked a late-week reversal. Large withdrawals on Thursday and Friday wiped out most of the gains built earlier in the week, while spot Ether ETFs once again attracted more fresh money than their Bitcoin counterparts.
Bitcoin ETF activity cooled as prices stayed range-bound
The drop in turnover came during a relatively quiet week for Bitcoin prices. The asset spent most of the period trading around $64,000, with limited movement, a backdrop that coincided with softer activity across the spot Bitcoin ETF complex.
Even so, the funds avoided another weekly net outflow. Their $33.8 million in inflows followed the end of an eight-week run of withdrawals that had only recently been broken in early July.
Late withdrawals erased most of the week's progress
The weekly result became far less convincing by the end of the period. Investors pulled about $225.2 million from spot Bitcoin ETFs on Thursday and another $240.1 million on Friday, reversing much of the week's earlier accumulation.
BlackRock's IBIT accounted for the largest losses during that pullback. ARK 21Shares Bitcoin ETF and Grayscale's Bitcoin Mini Trust helped offset part of the damage, limiting the net weekly figure to a small gain rather than a renewed overall outflow.
Ether funds led inflows for a second straight week
US spot Ether ETFs brought in about $103.9 million during the same week, more than three times the amount recorded by Bitcoin funds. That extended Ether products' winning streak to three consecutive weeks and marked the second week in a row in which they outdrew spot Bitcoin ETFs.
BlackRock's iShares Ethereum Trust supplied the bulk of the inflows with roughly $96.3 million. Grayscale's Ethereum Mini Trust and Fidelity's FETH added smaller contributions. Trading volume in spot Ether ETFs reached about $2.78 billion, equal to roughly 35% of the Bitcoin ETF total.
Recent improvement has not reversed 2026 losses
The recent inflow streak has only partly repaired the broader picture for digital-asset ETFs this year. Since January, US spot Bitcoin ETFs remain down about $5.23 billion on a net basis, while spot Ether ETFs are still lower by around $1.15 billion.
Ether has nevertheless led the July rebound so far. The source data puts July inflows for Ether ETFs at about $337.7 million, ahead of Bitcoin ETFs at roughly $234 million. Over the last three weeks, Ether funds have gathered around $293.8 million, compared with about $306.9 million for Bitcoin over the same span.
Assets remain far larger in Bitcoin funds
Despite Ether's stronger recent momentum, Bitcoin ETFs still dominate the market by size. Spot Bitcoin funds held about $77.82 billion in net assets at the end of the week, while spot Ether ETFs held around $10.17 billion, or roughly one-eighth as much.
The latest flow data suggests the next key question is whether the recent break from prolonged outflows can hold. Both ETF groups ended an eight-week redemption streak on July 11, but the late-week withdrawals from Bitcoin funds show that recovery remains uneven.
