OSL Digital Securities has opened XRP trading to retail users in Hong Kong, marking the first time a licensed exchange in the city has made the token available to retail customers through a regulated local venue. The rollout adds a new access point for XRP in a market where investors have largely relied on offshore platforms or more limited institutional offerings.

Retail XRP Trading Starts on OSL

Trading began on July 29 through two OSL services. On Flash Trade, the company’s instant retail trading feature, customers can trade the XRP/USD pair. Through OSL’s over-the-counter service, retail users can access XRP/USD and XRP/HKD. The platform also supports XRP deposits and withdrawals through the XRP Ledger.

OSL said professional investors continue to have access to a wider set of XRP markets. Those include XRP/USDT through Flash Trade and XRP/BTC through OTC, in addition to the retail pairs.

A Licensed Route for Local Investors

The significance of the launch lies in OSL’s regulatory status in Hong Kong. The company operates under a license from the Securities and Futures Commission, giving local investors a way to access XRP through a supervised domestic platform rather than turning to offshore exchanges.

Hong Kong’s virtual asset licensing framework requires exchanges to meet standards across several areas, including client asset protection, custody arrangements, anti-money laundering controls, token admission procedures, cybersecurity, and market surveillance. Licensed platforms are also expected to carry out customer checks, manage conflicts of interest, and maintain safeguards aimed at reducing fraud, market manipulation, and misuse of client assets.

Broader XRP Access in Hong Kong

The retail listing builds on XRP’s gradual expansion within Hong Kong’s regulated digital asset market. Before OSL’s move, Hashkey had already listed XRP for professional investors, providing access for institutional or otherwise eligible participants. OSL’s launch broadens that access beyond professional clients and brings XRP to the city’s retail segment through a licensed exchange for the first time.

The development may also be watched closely by the local market as investors look to see whether other licensed exchanges in Hong Kong decide to add XRP for retail trading as well.

OSL’s Expansion Plans

The XRP rollout comes as OSL continues to expand its broader digital asset business. Earlier this year, the company completed a $200 million expansion raise intended to support growth, acquisitions, and international expansion.

That fundraising provides context for the latest listing: OSL is not only adding another token for local customers, but also continuing to position itself for a wider push in digital asset services.

In context, the XRP launch is notable less for changing the token itself than for widening how it can be accessed inside Hong Kong’s regulated market. It gives retail investors a new, locally supervised channel, while also signaling how the city’s licensed exchange ecosystem may continue to evolve as more assets are considered for retail availability.
