OSL Digital Securities has opened XRP trading to retail investors in Hong Kong, making it the first platform licensed by the city’s Securities and Futures Commission to provide direct retail spot access to the token. The move adds a regulated local route for buying XRP, including a Hong Kong dollar trading option.

Retail launch on July 29

The company said the retail offering went live on July 29. OSL Digital Securities is a subsidiary of OSL Group, which is listed in Hong Kong under stock code 863.

Under the new rollout, retail users can trade XRP/USD through OSL’s Flash Trade service. The company’s over-the-counter desk also offers XRP/USD and XRP/HKD. OSL said transactions are settled through the XRP Ledger.

The addition of an XRP/HKD pair is notable because it gives local investors a direct fiat on-ramp through a regulated venue. According to the source report, retail users in Hong Kong previously had fewer ways to access XRP and often relied on offshore exchanges operating outside the city’s licensing framework.

XRP joins OSL’s retail lineup

With the launch, XRP becomes the fourth digital asset available to OSL’s retail clients, alongside Bitcoin, Ethereum and Solana. OSL holds Type 1 and Type 7 licenses from the SFC and is registered under Hong Kong’s Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorist Financing Ordinance.

The company also says its custody arrangement includes $1 billion in insurance coverage for client assets.

The latest step builds on an earlier XRP listing introduced in December 2025. At that stage, access was limited to professional investors, including institutions and qualifying high-net-worth clients. That version of the offering supported XRP/HKD, XRP/USD and XRP/USDT through Flash Trade.

Expansion beyond professional investors

Opening the market to retail users marks an expansion of OSL’s XRP product set rather than a first appearance of the asset on the platform. In that sense, the July 29 launch extends access from professional clients to everyday investors under Hong Kong’s regulated framework.

The source article describes the move as part of the city’s gradual widening of licensed crypto offerings. It also presents the launch as another regulated access point for XRP in Asia, at a time when institutions in the region are continuing to build blockchain-based financial infrastructure.

Broader market backdrop

The rollout comes alongside signs of broader activity around XRP-related products and the XRP Ledger, according to the source material. XRP spot exchange-traded funds have recorded eight straight weeks of inflows, bringing cumulative inflows to about $1.49 billion.

On-chain activity has also expanded beyond the token itself. RLUSD’s market capitalization on the XRP Ledger rose 44.9% quarter over quarter to $340.3 million at the end of the first quarter of 2026, making it the network’s largest stablecoin.

In context, the report contrasts Hong Kong’s licensed retail expansion with the slower pace of federal crypto market rulemaking in the United States. It notes that OSL’s launch does not itself open access for US investors unless they satisfy the platform’s jurisdictional and eligibility requirements, but it does illustrate how Hong Kong is continuing to add assets to licensed retail venues while US policymakers are still debating a national framework for digital assets.
