U.S. spot bitcoin exchange-traded funds ended Tuesday with a small net inflow of $4.89 million, reversing back into positive territory after the previous session’s $144.67 million withdrawal. The shift came even as five bitcoin funds posted redemptions, with BlackRock’s IBIT supplying enough new money to offset the broader selling.

Other crypto ETF segments were mixed. Spot ether ETFs remained slightly negative on the day, while Solana funds were the only altcoin ETF category in the source data to attract fresh capital.

IBIT offsets withdrawals across rival bitcoin funds

BlackRock’s IBIT brought in $50.20 million on Tuesday, the inflow that carried the U.S. spot bitcoin ETF group to a net gain for the session. Without that addition, the category would have remained negative as outflows were spread across several competing products.

Franklin Templeton’s EZBC saw the largest withdrawal at $16.46 million. ARK 21Shares’ ARKB lost $11.55 million, VanEck’s HODL shed $10.30 million, Fidelity’s FBTC posted a $4.13 million outflow, and Hashdex’s DEFI recorded $2.87 million in redemptions. Together, those five funds gave up $45.31 million.

Trading activity stays elevated as assets hold above $77 billion

According to the source figures, spot bitcoin ETF trading value reached $1.42 billion during the session. Combined net assets for the category closed at $77.46 billion.

The numbers point to a market where flows can still turn positive on the strength of one large product, even while capital exits multiple smaller or rival funds on the same day.

Ether remains slightly negative, Solana posts fresh inflows

Spot ether ETFs finished with a net outflow of $1.76 million. Fidelity’s FETH led the declines with $2.33 million in withdrawals, while BlackRock’s ETHA added roughly $564,000, partly narrowing the day’s overall loss.

Ether ETF trading value totaled $334.45 million, and net assets ended the session at $10.48 billion.

Solana ETFs moved in the opposite direction. Morgan Stanley’s MSOL attracted $1.43 million, leaving the category positive for the day. Total Solana ETF trading value came to $36.07 million, with net assets closing at $899.08 million.

Hashdex DEFI nears closure amid pressure on smaller funds

Hashdex’s DEFI outflow arrived a little more than a week after the issuer said it would close and liquidate the fund. As of July 30, DEFI held about $14.7 million in assets, and Hashdex said trading and new subscriptions are scheduled to end on August 17, followed by delisting.

Investors who stay in the fund through the process are expected to receive cash liquidation proceeds around August 28. Hashdex has cited the fund’s size, liquidity, operating costs, investor demand, and wider product strategy as factors behind the closure.

Tuesday’s $2.87 million redemption may indicate that some holders are choosing to leave before liquidation is completed. More broadly, the episode highlights the scale and liquidity challenges facing smaller bitcoin ETFs in a market where assets and trading activity remain concentrated in the largest products.
