Apple removed Pump Fun’s iPhone app from the App Store in the US and India on Thursday, a day after the Solana-based memecoin platform introduced Custom Pairs, a feature that lets users create tokens quoted against tokenized stocks and other assets.

The delisting was not accompanied by a public explanation from Apple. Pump Fun said the mobile app is only temporarily unavailable in those markets and that users who already have it installed can continue using it as normal, with funds remaining safe.

Delisting follows product rollout

Pump Fun disappeared from the iPhone App Store in several countries on Thursday evening, with users in the US and India seeing its listing replaced by a message stating that the app is not currently available in their country or region. The move quickly drew attention on social media.

The timing stood out because it came one day after Pump Fun launched Custom Pairs. That new feature allows anyone to create a memecoin priced against tokenized stocks rather than only against more typical crypto assets.

Dozens of tokenized stock-linked pairs were promoted

Pump Fun promoted 93 asset pairs tied to the launch, including digital assets presented as linked to publicly traded US companies such as Boeing, Costco, and Trump Media. The source article notes uncertainty around whether such asset pairs are legal.

According to the report, Pump Fun’s stock-token infrastructure involves Backpack Securities and Backed Finance’s xStocks. The same system also allows asset pairs to be denominated in stocks, gold, or wrapped bitcoin.

Pump Fun says service continues for existing users

A worker on Pump Fun’s mobile app team said the app is temporarily unavailable for download from the US and India iOS App Stores. The statement added that, for users who already installed the app, operations continue as usual and customer funds are safe.

Outside Apple’s ecosystem, Pump Fun still has other distribution channels. The company can direct users in the affected markets to its website or to its Android app on Google Play, where the app remains available and has recorded more than 500,000 downloads.

Apple has not explained the move

Apple had not commented at the time of publication, and the report says it is unclear whether the delisting is temporary or permanent. The app reportedly remains listed in Canada.

The Canadian listing identifies the publisher as Maius Imperium Limited of Limerick, Ireland. Before the removal, Pump Fun’s final social media post had promoted a coming “memecoin supercycle,” underscoring how abruptly the App Store action followed the platform’s latest launch.

What is confirmed next

For now, the confirmed position is limited: the iPhone app is unavailable to new users in the US and India, while Android access and web access continue, and existing iOS users are still able to use the app. Any broader conclusion about Apple’s reasoning or the future of the listing remains unconfirmed until either company comments further.

The episode also lands as Pump Fun remains a major memecoin platform. The source article says the app has generated more than $1 billion in revenue, making Apple’s decision notable even though the company has not stated a cause.
