AnchorWatch Trust Company has formally launched its Bitcoin custody service in the U.S. after receiving approval from Nevada's Financial Institutions Division, according to a report by The Block. The company is positioning itself as a qualified Bitcoin custodian for institutional and wealthy clients.

A central feature of the offering is optional insurance arranged through Lloyd's of London underwriting syndicates, with potential coverage of as much as $370 million for a single client. The final amount and scope of coverage depend on underwriting review and policy terms.

Institutional custody service goes live

The newly launched service is aimed at public companies, trust companies, asset-management custodians and high-net-worth individuals. AnchorWatch said it will charge flat custody fees that are capped at $10,000 per month, regardless of the value of assets held in custody.

That pricing structure sets the service apart from models that scale fees with assets under custody. The company is presenting the offering as a regulated custody option built for larger Bitcoin holders and institutional entities.

Two models for key control

AnchorWatch is offering two custody arrangements. In one model, the company holds the core private key while the client retains an additional key.

In the second model, control of the private keys is split among AnchorWatch, BitGo and CoinCorner. The structure gives clients a choice between different approaches to key management and operational control.

Insurance depends on underwriting

Insurance is not automatic but available as an optional feature through Lloyd's of London underwriting syndicates. AnchorWatch said coverage can reach up to $370 million per client, though the actual amount is determined after underwriting review.

The reported policy scope may extend beyond basic asset loss scenarios. Depending on the terms, coverage can also include losses linked to violent threats or kidnapping, as well as fraudulent acts by AnchorWatch.

What is confirmed so far

The confirmed milestone is the formal launch of AnchorWatch Trust Company as a qualified Bitcoin custodian following approval in Nevada. The service is now live with defined target customers, two custody models, a flat-fee cap and optional insurance tied to individual underwriting outcomes.

Any specific insurance protections, limits and covered events will vary by client and policy. That means the next practical step for prospective users is the underwriting process, which determines the final terms of any coverage attached to their custody arrangement.
