Anchorpoint has started a phased launch of HKDAP, a Hong Kong dollar-backed stablecoin aimed at institutional distributors and professional investors. The initial beta access covers payments, fiat conversion and settlement tied to tokenized assets.
The company said the first stage will center on cross-border payments and the settlement and distribution of tokenized real-world assets. The rollout follows licensing approval from the Hong Kong Monetary Authority in April, which Anchorpoint received alongside HSBC.
First use cases target institutional flows
In the opening phase, Anchorpoint is focusing on areas where institutions may need blockchain-based Hong Kong dollar settlement. According to the company, authorized distributors will provide HKDAP-to-fiat conversion services for institutions, corporate users and professional investors.
The early use cases include cross-border payments as well as the settlement and distribution of tokenized real-world assets. Anchorpoint has said it plans to bring in the stablecoin in stages, with payments, settlement and tokenized financial markets forming the core of that rollout.
HashKey joins distribution network
HashKey Exchange has joined the project as a distribution partner. Anchorpoint said HashKey has already completed its first HKDAP minting and redemption transaction as part of the launch process.
That detail gives the rollout an initial operational milestone as Anchorpoint begins offering the stablecoin to approved market participants rather than a broad retail audience.
How HKDAP is structured
HKDAP stands for “HKD At Par” and is intended to hold a one-to-one value with the Hong Kong dollar. Anchorpoint said the token is backed by eligible high-quality Hong Kong dollar reserve assets in line with Hong Kong’s stablecoin requirements.
The company has positioned the product for institutional settlement and conversion needs rather than as a general-purpose consumer token at this stage. Its stated use cases tie the stablecoin to regulated payment activity and to transactions involving tokenized assets.
Testing before the live beta
Before the current rollout, HKDAP was test-distributed on Ethereum Mainnet with OSL Group. The testing covered fiat funding, reserve handling, minting, on-chain transfers and redemption.
Anchorpoint said those trials were designed to check that traditional banking infrastructure could interact smoothly with blockchain-based settlement rails. The live beta now extends that work into a phased market launch.
Broader Hong Kong backdrop
The launch sits within Hong Kong’s wider effort to build a regulated stablecoin ecosystem. Anchorpoint’s next confirmed step is to continue introducing HKDAP in phases, with further emphasis on payments, settlement and tokenized financial markets as the program expands.
For now, access remains limited to institutional distributors and professional investors, indicating that the company is taking a controlled approach as it adds participants and use cases.
