S&P Global has led a strategic investment in crypto data provider Kaiko, extending the company’s Series B financing to $110 million. The funding adds a large group of financial and crypto industry backers and points to continued interest in market-data infrastructure for digital assets.
Kaiko said the new capital will be used to reinforce its core data business and to expand infrastructure aimed at onchain capital markets. The company provides pricing, liquidity and reference data across more than 150 exchanges and blockchain protocols for institutional users.
Broad investor group joins the extension
Alongside S&P Global, the round includes BNP Paribas, Bpifrance, Broadridge, Canton Foundation, Coinbase Ventures, DRW Venture Capital, Nasdaq Ventures, Royal Bank of Canada, Stellar and Susquehanna Private Equity Investments. Existing shareholders Anthemis, Point Nine and Revaia also remain in the picture.
Kaiko announced the extension in a press release on Monday. The company did not disclose a valuation for the latest investment.
Kaiko’s funding history and business
Founded in Paris in 2014, Kaiko sells market-data infrastructure to institutions operating in digital assets. Its products are designed to supply reliable data for pricing, liquidity analysis and other reference needs in a market that trades continuously.
The company said it has now raised a total of $187 million since its 2021 Series A. That figure follows a $53 million Series B completed in 2022, which the new financing extends.
Why the round stands out
The investor list is notable for the mix of traditional finance groups and crypto-focused firms. The participation of S&P Global, Nasdaq Ventures and Royal Bank of Canada suggests that established financial institutions are taking a closer interest in the data layer supporting digital-asset and tokenized-market activity.
According to the company, demand is rising from institutions developing tokenized-asset products that need the same kind of around-the-clock data coverage already expected in crypto markets. Kaiko says that requirement is shaping demand for infrastructure built for onchain capital markets.
S&P Global signals longer-term interest
Cathy Clay, chief executive of S&P Dow Jones Indices, said S&P Global is investing with a view to the future as digital assets accelerate, adding that the deal reflects that conviction.
The immediate confirmed use of proceeds is operational rather than acquisitive: Kaiko plans to strengthen its existing market-data operations and broaden its infrastructure for onchain capital markets. Beyond that, the company has not disclosed further details on valuation or additional steps tied to the financing.
