Robinhood Markets plans to extend its artificial intelligence agent tools to cryptocurrency trading, opening the feature to eligible users in the United States at a later date. The company said on July 10 that it will allow external AI agents to connect to its platform and carry out crypto trades automatically, though it did not say when the rollout will begin.
Expansion into crypto
According to Robinhood, the planned feature is designed to let users pair outside AI agents with their Robinhood accounts for crypto activity. Once available, eligible U.S. customers will be able to use those tools to build tailored trading strategies and automate execution on the platform.
The company said the agents will be able to manage assets and place orders without users having to watch their accounts constantly. Any automated activity is expected to operate within risk settings defined in advance.
Built on an earlier beta
Robinhood is not starting from scratch with AI agents. The company previously launched a beta version of the feature for stock and options trading, giving users a way to test automated tools in traditional market products before expanding the concept to digital assets.
Robinhood said more than 70,000 AI agent accounts have been created since that beta service started. The company did not provide further detail in the announcement on how those accounts have been used, or whether the crypto version will differ materially from the stock and options offering.
What Robinhood says the move is for
In announcing the coming crypto integration, Robinhood framed the effort as part of a broader push to bring financial technology and Web3 services closer together. The company said the addition of AI agents for crypto trading is intended to accelerate that convergence.
The statement did not include a firm launch schedule, and Robinhood has not disclosed a specific release date for the feature. It also limited the planned availability to eligible users in the U.S., without outlining broader geographic access.
What is known so far
The announcement establishes the direction of Robinhood's product roadmap but leaves several operational details unanswered. The company has said external AI agents will be supported, that they will be able to execute crypto trades automatically, and that users will be able to set risk limits in advance. Beyond that, Robinhood has not yet specified timing for the launch.
The move follows Robinhood's earlier testing of AI-assisted trading in stocks and options, where tens of thousands of agent accounts have already been created. That existing beta appears to be the foundation for the company's next step into crypto automation.
Robinhood's latest announcement points to a broader effort to incorporate AI-driven tools into retail trading workflows, while keeping the initial rollout narrow and tied to user-set controls. For now, the company has confirmed the planned feature and its intended use, but not when customers will be able to access it.
