Robinhood has added $25 million worth of Bitcoin to its corporate balance sheet, taking a direct treasury position as it broadens its presence across crypto, derivatives and onchain products.
The company linked the move to its longer-term crypto strategy. Johann Kerbrat, Robinhood’s senior vice president and general manager of crypto and international, said the purchase is meant to bring the company and its plans into closer alignment with Bitcoin and the wider crypto market.
Treasury move tied to crypto strategy
Kerbrat described the purchase as a way of “aligning our company and our vision with the crypto community.” He also indicated that the position is modest relative to Robinhood’s overall size, suggesting the buy is more strategic than transformative for the company’s balance sheet.
The decision stands out because it places Bitcoin directly on Robinhood’s books rather than limiting the company’s crypto exposure to customer trading activity and related services.
Expansion across multiple crypto businesses
The Bitcoin purchase comes as Robinhood continues to widen its crypto footprint. The company has been pushing into several areas at once, including perpetual futures, tokenized stocks, the integration of Bitstamp, and its Ethereum Layer 2 network, Robinhood Chain.
Taken together, those initiatives show Robinhood building beyond spot crypto trading and into infrastructure, international products and onchain services. The balance-sheet purchase adds a corporate treasury element to that broader expansion.
Part of a wider corporate Bitcoin trend
Robinhood’s move also arrives as other companies continue to accumulate Bitcoin. The source article noted that Strategy, a well-known corporate buyer of the asset, recently purchased 334 BTC for about $28.7 million.
That latest Strategy buy brought its total holdings to 848,000 BTC, underscoring the difference in scale between Robinhood’s initial allocation and the much larger treasury programs already established elsewhere in the market.
Market backdrop and what comes next
At the time of the report, Bitcoin was trading at around $84,000. Analysts were focused on support and resistance levels that could shape whether the asset sees a broader recovery.
For Robinhood, the next confirmed step is not another treasury purchase but the continued rollout and integration of the crypto initiatives already underway, including derivatives, tokenized assets, Bitstamp integration and Robinhood Chain. The $25 million Bitcoin position now sits alongside those efforts as a signal of the company’s stated commitment to the sector.
