Ripple Prime has started offering round-the-clock swaps tied to more than 100 traditional markets through Hyperliquid, extending trading and settlement into weekends for institutional clients. The lineup covers equities, equity indices, ETFs, metals, energy and foreign exchange.

The products reference perpetual futures listed by Trade.xyz on Hyperliquid. Ripple Prime said the structure gives institutions a single counterparty while connecting them to on-chain derivatives markets, with market maker Virtu already trading the new instruments.

Institutional access to always-on markets

According to the company, the new swaps are available 24/7 and are designed to mirror traditional assets that normally trade on fixed exchange hours. By using perpetual futures on Hyperliquid as the reference market, Ripple Prime is offering clients a way to maintain exposure even when the underlying venues are closed.

The initial universe includes more than 100 instruments across several categories. Those categories include stocks, stock benchmarks, exchange-traded funds, precious and industrial metals, energy products and FX pairs.

How the structure works

Ripple Prime is acting as the sole counterparty on the swaps rather than sending institutions directly to a decentralized venue. The company also provides cross-margining across supported asset classes, which allows clients to offset collateral usage across positions instead of managing each market separately.

Where local rules permit, clients can also post RLUSD as collateral. The service is currently being offered under Ripple Prime’s British Virgin Islands license.

Liquidity and weekend pricing risks

The pricing of the swaps depends on liquidity available on Hyperliquid. That creates an important limitation during weekends or other periods when the underlying traditional exchanges are shut, because trading in the reference market may become thinner.

As a result, basis risk can emerge between the swap price and the cash or listed market it is intended to track. The article notes that managing that mismatch is part of Ripple Prime’s role in running the product.

Expansion plans and broader aim

Ripple Prime said it plans to extend the service to additional regions, although no timetable was given. For now, the offering is being positioned as a regulated and intermediated access point for traditional financial firms seeking exposure to on-chain derivatives markets.

The broader pitch is to connect conventional market participants with crypto-native infrastructure without requiring them to trade directly on decentralized platforms. The next confirmed step is geographic expansion, but the company has not yet provided dates or named the jurisdictions it expects to enter.
