JUST said it completed its fifth scheduled JST buyback and burn on October 17, removing 170,723,144 tokens from circulation in a transaction valued at more than $23.53 million. The company said the round was funded entirely by JustLend DAO’s net operating revenue and represented about 1.72% of total supply.

The latest burn also marks the end of the first phase of the program, according to JUST. The company said the remaining 70% of JustLend DAO’s initial treasury reserves has now been fully deployed, setting up a planned upgrade to the mechanism that funds future buybacks.

Fifth burn pushes cumulative total higher

According to JUST, the five buyback-and-burn rounds completed over the past year have removed about 1.881 billion JST in total. The company said that has pushed cumulative deflation beyond 19%, while total capital deployed across the program has exceeded $100 million.

JUST also said the token supply has fallen from 9.9 billion JST to about 8.02 billion over that period. The company described the latest operation as part of its routine buyback schedule for the third quarter of 2026.

How the latest round was funded

In its announcement, JUST said the fifth burn was financed through JustLend DAO’s net operating income rather than a separate external funding source. It broke that figure down into $10.34 million from existing income and a quarter-over-quarter increase of $9.28 million in Q3 net income.

The company said the full amount used in the latest round came directly from operating revenue. It also reiterated that the burn process has been carried out on-chain across the program’s previous rounds.

Treasury milestone ends the initial structure

JUST said the latest buyback fully deployed the remaining 70% of JustLend DAO’s initial treasury reserves. That milestone, it said, closes the first stage of the JST buyback framework.

The announcement framed this as a transition point rather than the end of buybacks. According to the company, the conclusion of the initial reserve-based phase clears the way for a revised mechanism with a broader funding base.

Next step is a broader deflation model

JUST said the buyback program is now set for an upgrade that will diversify its capital sources beyond the current structure. The company said future funding is expected to incorporate revenue from additional business lines, including GasFree.

The stated goal is to move toward what JUST described as a broader and more sustainable model for continuing JST buybacks. While the company highlighted that expansion plan, it did not provide a timeline in the announcement for when the upgraded mechanism will take effect.
