Fortitude has signed an agreement to buy 9,000 Bitmain Antminer Z15 Pro miners for about $31.5 million, in a purchase that the company says would sharply expand its Zcash mining operation. The order is expected to add enough computing power to lift Fortitude’s disclosed capacity by 145%, taking its fleet to roughly 12.8 GSol/s.
Order size and delivery schedule
The miners are Equihash ASIC machines designed for Zcash mining. Under the agreement, Bitmain is due to deliver 3,000 units in October and the remaining 6,000 in November. Fortitude said the full batch would add 7.56 GSOL/s of hashrate to its existing operation.
If deployed as planned, the company’s disclosed mining capacity would more than double from previously reported levels. Based on the current Zcash network hashrate, that scale would amount to more than half of the network’s computing power, although the actual share would still depend on whether other miners add capacity over the same period.
Deployment across four states
Fortitude said the new hardware will be installed across more than 60 megawatts of contracted power capacity at seven sites. Those locations are spread across South Dakota, Nebraska, Texas and New York.
The expansion follows the energizing of a new 12 MW mining facility in Grand Island, Nebraska. That site adds to the footprint Fortitude is using for its Zcash-focused mining buildout.
Merger and listing plans
The purchase comes as Fortitude moves closer to a proposed merger with HeartSciences. The transaction is tied to a plan to list on Nasdaq under the ticker TUDE.
Fortitude is a subsidiary of Digital Currency Group, the crypto industry conglomerate that owns a range of businesses across the sector. The miner’s latest equipment order suggests it is continuing to scale ahead of the proposed public market debut.
Recent production figures
In the first half of 2026, Fortitude mined 72,696 ZEC, according to the source article. That represented about 28% of total Zcash production during the period and was worth roughly $34.5 million at then-current prices.
Those figures provide a benchmark for the company’s existing presence in the network. If the Bitmain deliveries arrive on schedule and the machines are brought online as expected, Fortitude’s role in Zcash mining could increase substantially, though its eventual share of the network will still depend on broader industry expansion.
