Curve Finance has launched on Stellar mainnet, marking the protocol’s first native deployment outside the Ethereum Virtual Machine ecosystem. The release brings Curve’s StableSwap exchange to Stellar, extending the decentralized exchange’s footprint beyond the EVM-based networks where it has primarily operated.

On Stellar, users can now create liquidity pools, swap assets that tend to trade at closely linked prices, and provide liquidity. The initial focus is on pairs such as stablecoins and tokenized assets, which fit Curve’s established StableSwap model.

StableSwap arrives on Stellar

The live deployment gives Stellar users access to Curve’s core StableSwap functionality on mainnet. The design is intended for assets that usually remain near the same value, making it suited to markets such as stablecoin pairs and certain tokenized instruments.

By launching natively on Stellar rather than through an EVM-compatible layer, Curve is entering a different blockchain environment for the first time. That makes the rollout a notable technical and strategic step for the protocol as it broadens where its exchange infrastructure can operate.

Potential uses across Stellar-based finance

According to the source report, the Stellar rollout comes as institutional interest helps drive the expansion. Curve’s pools on Stellar could become useful infrastructure for lending and other financial applications that need on-chain liquidity for functions such as liquidations and position exits.

The article also noted that wider utility will depend on follow-through after launch. In particular, liquidity needs to grow and more Stellar-native applications would need to integrate the pools for the deployment to become more deeply embedded in the network’s financial activity.

Markets for stablecoins and tokenized assets

The deployment could also give asset issuers on Stellar another way to build secondary markets for supported assets. That includes stablecoins and tokenized assets, which are specifically identified as early use cases for the new pools.

If liquidity develops, those pools may help issuers and apps support trading between closely priced assets without relying on more general-purpose exchange designs. The immediate significance, however, remains tied to adoption and integration rather than launch alone.

What comes next for Curve on Stellar

Curve said it plans to add FXSwap on Stellar after the product’s audit is completed. FXSwap is intended for trading assets pegged to different currencies, which would broaden the protocol’s scope on the network beyond same- or closely priced asset swaps.

Beyond the Stellar launch, Curve continues to run its wider DeFi product set, including lending and the crvUSD stablecoin. The source article said the protocol has about $1.27 billion in total value locked, while the next confirmed step for Stellar is the post-audit introduction of FXSwap.
