Blast said it plans to shut down its Layer 2 network and has set Oct. 26, 2026 as the deadline for users to withdraw funds through the platform’s standard interface.

In an announcement posted on X on Oct. 2, the team said users should move assets to Ethereum mainnet, including balances held in the Blast PWA. The project said operating expenses now exceed the revenue generated by the network, leaving what it described as no credible path to sustainable operations.

Withdrawal deadline and user instructions

According to the shutdown plan, the regular Blast withdrawal interface will remain available until Oct. 26. The team asked users to complete the process before that date rather than wait until the final days of the wind-down.

Blast said assets that are not withdrawn by the interface deadline will not be lost. Instead, they will still be recoverable through direct interaction with the network’s bridge contracts on Ethereum mainnet. The team said it will publish instructions for that contract-based withdrawal process before Oct. 26.

Temporary pause tied to Lido assets

Before normal withdrawals can continue toward the shutdown deadline, Blast said it must first withdraw the Lido assets held by the network. The team expects that process to take about one week.

During that period, user withdrawals through the usual interface will be temporarily unavailable. Blast also said the withdrawal delay will be shortened to 24 hours, although that reduced waiting period will not apply while the Lido withdrawal is in progress.

What happens after the pause

Once the Lido-related withdrawal process is complete, standard user withdrawals are expected to resume. At that point, the destination for withdrawals will be Ethereum mainnet, and the waiting period will be 24 hours, according to the announcement.

The team’s message emphasized that users should actively move their funds rather than rely on post-deadline recovery through contracts, even though that option is expected to remain available after Oct. 26.

Next confirmed step

Blast said it will provide detailed instructions for anyone who needs to withdraw directly from the bridge contracts on Ethereum Layer 1 after the regular interface is retired.

For now, the confirmed timetable is that the network will begin the Lido asset withdrawal process, pause user withdrawals for roughly a week, then reopen them with a 24-hour delay until Oct. 26, 2026. After that date, access to funds is set to continue through the Ethereum mainnet bridge contracts rather than the normal Blast interface.
