Israeli crypto broker Bits of Gold is investigating a cyber incident that may have exposed customer identity and financial information through unauthorized access to an outside system used for support and data analysis.

The company said the event did not affect customer funds, crypto holdings, passwords, scanned identification documents or full payment card details. It added that there is currently no indication the potentially exposed information has been misused.

What the company says was exposed

According to Bits of Gold’s review so far, the data that may have been accessed includes customer names, identification numbers, email addresses, phone numbers, IP addresses, bank account details and public crypto wallet addresses.

The company separately said digital assets, account passwords, scanned ID documents, full credit card details and CVV codes were not affected. The investigation is still ongoing, and the exact scope of any exposure has not been confirmed.

Third-party system linked to wider cyber event

Bits of Gold said the incident is tied to third-party software it uses for support and data analysis. The company described the breach as part of a broader cyber event involving that software provider and other businesses around the world.

Reports cited in the source article suggested that hundreds of companies may have been affected. Bits of Gold did not say that all of its customer records were exposed, only that unauthorized access may have reached certain personal information through the outside system.

Steps taken after discovery

The broker said it notified customers on Aug. 16 after identifying the issue. It also said it blocked the unauthorized access and disconnected the affected system from its information sources.

Bits of Gold added that it informed the relevant authorities. The company operates under Israeli regulation and reports having more than 300,000 customers under license number 56716.

What remains unclear

The company’s public update leaves several points unresolved, including the full number of affected users and whether any of the potentially exposed information was actually taken or later misused.

For now, the confirmed next step is the continuing investigation into the third-party breach and its impact. Bits of Gold’s position is that the review remains in progress and that the exact scope of the incident is still unconfirmed.
