Binance says it will begin moving non-stock crypto assets out of Funding Accounts and into Spot Accounts from Sept. 29, as the exchange reshapes the account for stock-related products. The current Funding Account is due to be renamed Stocks Account in January 2027, with exact timing to be announced later.
Under the planned setup, the renamed account will be used for U.S. equities and stock options, while most crypto assets will be consolidated in Spot. Binance also said the future Stocks Account will not support direct on-chain deposits or withdrawals.
What changes on Sept. 29
Starting Sept. 29, non-stock crypto held in Funding Accounts will be transferred to Spot Accounts. Binance said assets received through Binance Pay, Binance Card and Gift Card will also begin landing in Spot instead of Funding.
The company added that standard users in its P2P marketplace will default to Spot as the source account for buy and sell orders from the same date. For Convert, new orders will settle in Spot or Earn, while trades that are already open will remain in place until they are completed.
How the future Stocks Account will work
Binance said six settlement assets will continue to move between Spot and the future Stocks Account: USD, USDC, USDT, USD1, U and BNB. Even so, the Stocks Account itself will not allow direct blockchain deposits or withdrawals.
According to the announcement, the renamed account is being reserved for U.S. equities and stock options. Binance said its direct stock trading service already provides access to more than 7,000 U.S. securities through regulated brokerage infrastructure and direct ownership.
What happens to bStocks and payment functions
Tokenized securities, referred to by Binance as bStocks, are not expected to remain inside the Stocks Account. Existing bStock balances can be moved using a One-Click Migration tool, and Binance said those balances will begin transferring to Spot in January. Any newly issued bStocks will go directly to Spot.
Funding balances may temporarily remain available as a payment source for Binance Pay, but Binance said Funding will be removed as a Pay source before the account is formally renamed. The company also noted that older versions of its app may not show the One-Click Migration feature, although balances will still be moved automatically as backend migration proceeds.
P2P and API users face additional updates
Binance said P2P advertisers will receive a separate P2P Account in December. It also warned that any P2P advertisements that have not been migrated by January 2027 will be closed automatically.
For Binance Alpha 2.0, the exchange said stablecoins used in limit-order purchases and sales will move through Alpha Accounts. API users have also been told to update references from Funding to Spot as settlement flows are redirected away from the Funding Account.
Next confirmed milestone
The key dates disclosed so far are the Sept. 29 start of the migration away from Funding for most crypto balances and the January 2027 rebrand of Funding into Stocks Account. Binance has not yet provided the exact January schedule, saying further dates will be announced later.
Until then, the company’s plan is to keep shifting operational functions tied to crypto balances into Spot, while preserving the future Stocks Account for stock-related products and a limited set of settlement assets.
