Backpack has introduced round-the-clock trading in tokenized U.S. equities for users outside the United States, beginning with SpaceX, Micron Technology and SanDisk. The company says the new offering gives overseas investors access to actual U.S. shares without waiting for normal Wall Street trading hours.
Launch begins with three securities
The crypto wallet and exchange said its new market opens with SpaceX under the ticker SPCX, Micron Technology as MU, and SanDisk as SNDK. The product is aimed at international traders who have typically been limited either by U.S. market hours or by products that track stocks indirectly rather than representing the underlying shares.
Backpack says investors using the platform are buying real securities rather than synthetic exposure. According to the company, each tokenized position is backed on a one-to-one basis by shares held in custody in the United States.
Claims on ownership and shareholder rights
In its announcement, Backpack said holders of these tokenized equities receive the same economic entitlements tied to the securities as registered shareholders, including dividends and corporate actions. The company presents the structure as a way to connect blockchain-based trading with conventional stock ownership.
The platform uses Solana to issue tokenized versions of the securities. Backpack said those tokens can be transferred between wallets, used in decentralized finance applications and converted back into traditional securities.
How the trading model works
Backpack said its system sources liquidity from traditional exchanges so that prices continue to update even outside standard U.S. market sessions. That structure, according to the company, is what enables trading overnight and on weekends.
The exchange also said trades settle immediately. Users can fund purchases with either stablecoins or fiat currency, giving crypto-native and traditional payment options for accessing the market.
Broader significance
The launch reflects a broader effort by crypto platforms to package conventional financial assets in tokenized form while extending trading access beyond the timetable of legacy exchanges. In Backpack’s case, the company is positioning the product around continuous access, direct backing by U.S.-custodied shares and onchain portability through Solana-based tokens.
