Aave DAO has approved its August/September 2026 funding update, a package aimed at near-term operations, treasury management and a new private credit pilot tied to GHO. The proposal bundles a 4 million GHO acquisition for the Prime instance, refreshed spending allowances for the MainnetSwapSteward, reimbursements for audit and legal costs, and funding capacity for upcoming Aave V4 launches.
The update also renews the Aave Liquidity Committee budget for another six months at a lower level and opens the door to an initial allocation of between $5 million and $10 million for asset-backed private credit deployments. According to the proposal, the goal is to preserve protocol runway, keep growth initiatives funded and test new uses of GHO without weakening its backing.
Runway management and treasury actions
The funding update says the MainnetSwapSteward and Aave Finance Committee will continue a rolling GHO acquisition strategy intended to maintain adequate runway while preserving budget for future initiatives. As part of that plan, the DAO authorized the MainnetSwapSteward to acquire 4 million GHO for the Prime instance.
The specification also includes depositing idle ETH held by the Collector into the Aave v3 Core market on Ethereum. In parallel, the MainnetSwapSteward’s token allowances are refreshed across Ethereum, Base and other networks, covering assets including GHO, AAVE and wETH so operational budgets can be maintained.
Private credit pilot gets initial allocation
A central part of the package is a pilot program for asset-backed private credit, which the proposal describes as a potential growth opportunity for both GHO and the wider Aave ecosystem. The focus is on short-duration receivables financing, which could create an additional revenue stream and connect GHO to real-world economic activity.
Under the approved framework, the Aave Finance Committee can allocate between $5 million and $10 million to pilot deployments. The funding is to come from wETH allowances and Safe-held assets, with the proposal stating that GHO backing should remain intact. TokenLogic is tasked with supporting assessment, implementation, monitoring and reporting, while specialist third parties would originate and service the underlying assets. Before any move beyond pilot scale, TokenLogic is expected to publish risk analysis and manage collateral health.
Liquidity incentives reduced, V4 launch budget prepared
The Aave Liquidity Committee budget has been renewed for six months at a reduced level. The proposal sets measured liquidity incentive spending at about $125,000 every 30 days, which it says is roughly 18% of GHO’s total cost base. The lower budget reflects savings consolidated into sGHO and other efficiency gains, while leaving room for governance to revisit funding if new deployments require it.
Separately, the DAO created allowances to support forthcoming Aave V4 launches on Ethereum and Base. Those launch resources are expected to come from a mix of Collector allowances, USDC already held on the AFC Safe and borrowing against assets on the Ahab Safe, for a total of up to 5.25 million USDC. The proposal notes that these funds remain protocol capital and can be withdrawn, with TokenLogic set to report on deployed positions and incentive spending.
Audit reimbursements and operational setup
The approved package reimburses TokenLogic 69,939.27 for expenses related to a second audit of the GHO-to-sGHO two-way swap layer in the Aave V4 Reinvestment Controller. It also reimburses Aave Labs 1,818,102 for Aave V4 and Aave App audit costs, as well as legal costs linked to handling the Kelp and LayerZero bridge exploit.
Other operational items in the specification include a new allowance allowing withdrawal of 750,000 aEthLidoGHO from Prime for six months and the cancellation of a certain Lido-aEthLidoWETH allowance on Ethereum. The update also references Monad and Plasma operational setup, including a deployed PoolExposureSteward, SAFE multisig governance and defined fund access roles for routine tasks.
What comes next
The post framed the package as a Direct-to-AIP proposal, with the next step being submission of an AIP for governance vote. The disclosure attached to the proposal states that TokenLogic is an active service provider to Aave DAO and says there are no undisclosed material conflicts of interest.
With the funding update now approved, the confirmed next phase is implementation of the authorized treasury, liquidity and pilot-credit actions under the governance parameters laid out in the proposal, alongside reporting on positions, spending and any future risk analysis needed before private credit activity is expanded.
